Professional Creatives /Artists

What and who is a professional artist?

As a professional artist I support the work of the organizations listed below and what they stand for. Bluntly speaking, I am not always able to afford my membership, but have and will be again a professional card carrying member of CARFAC. For clarity on who and what a professional artist is, I recommend the following:

The Status of the Artist

"The International Artists Association defines a “professional artist” as one who:

  • earns a living through art making;
  • or possesses a diploma in an area considered to be within the domain of the fine arts;
  • or teaches art in a school of art or applied art;
  • or whose work is often seen by the public or is frequently or regularly exhibited;
  • or is recognized as an artist by consensus of opinion among professional artists.

"If you are a practicing visual artist and fit the IAA definition, why not benefit from the work of artists involved in CARFAC?                           Join us and get involved!"

"Main objectives of IAA Europe are the exchange between artists and organisations engaged in the fields of art and culture in Europe and beyond, the discussion and elaboration of artistic matters within Europe as well as the promotion of the flow of information regarding e.g. working conditions, social security systems, authors' rights and free flow of artworks. It aims to make artists' interests known to European political institutions and their representatives."

Donating Work                                                                                                                                                   After many years of volunteerism in different fields, I reserve my art as part of my personal art practice and a professional career. With the exception of my work with L.O.O.K. whether as a  service and or a finished work, I no longer donate to individuals or groups. When I have done so, I have donated 100%. Occasionally, I will gift work to an organization, but not for auction.

A FInal Note;
After many years of volunteerism in different fields, I have found it is extremely important for serious artists, to insist on being treated professionally. Artists  must be paid fairly for their time, expertise and final works where applicable. Please refer to C.A.R.F.A.C. at;
